Craft Space Tuesday: I'm Moving!

So today is my Birthday and I didn't want to do a crazy detailed post here so I thought I'd tackle this topic instead!

I'm Moving!

Well not houses or anything like that. But I'm moving Websites!

Say good bye to My Crafty Place and Welcome to....

Sam's Crafty Castle

Well the official move won't happen until July 1st and it will be a super soft opening but I thought I would give you all a heads up and a chance to get subscribed!  So go check out the new website here!

There's a reason this will be a soft opening. We're heading into the first few weeks of July which is always a whole lot of crazy for me I should be back in action to a normal level about the middle of July after a really short vacation. The goal for the blog and posting in the next 2 or 3 weeks is to simply get done what I can.

Craft Space Tuesday: Favorite Color Combinations

So I actually was one of the random winners from Digi Designs Challenge last week for the Favorite Color Combination Challenge! This wasn't the topic I was planning for this week but I wasn't quite ready for the watercolor post yet! Maybe next week! So I thought a fun topic for today might be favorite color combinations! My favorite is pink and orange. But I always really like Pink and Green, Purple and yellow, purple and blue, and really bright colors together when I'm doing kids cards!

What about you? What are you favorite color combinations?

Firefighter Card

HI! I have a really fun boy card for you today!

I have a little boy who is a family friend I originally picked this image out for him but then never got a card finished and I don't know if he's still into firefighters and I probably won't send it off but I still made something anyway.

Purple and Yellow Graduation Card

So you ever make a card that feels like the ending to a story?

Well I did.

4 years ago I made this card to give to my little cousin for her first day fo highschool.

Today I'm posting her graduation card.

I can't believe it's been 4 years. I can't believe I've been bloging this long. I can't believe how far I've come in my cardmaking skills. Keep reading to the end for a nice big anouncement.

Are you ready for the big anouncement? I'm moving to a new site! I was ready for an upgrade and have decided to move to a WIX site! Don't worry I'll share more when it's time to move!

Craft Space Tuesday: Strech Your Stamps

Hello and welcome to another Craft Space Tuesday! This week we're talking about different ways to use your stamps. I went through my technique binder and pulled out some of the samples I've made using stamps in a different way! Before we get started I just wanted to say that these are all samples meant to just be references for me so they are far from my best work.

This is probably the easiest technique that any one can do! If you have clear photo-polymer stamps they're pretty bendy All you have to do is bend them into a different shape!

This one's a little different and didn't photograph well at all so I'm going to include the video for this one from Stamp TV.

This was a fun technique I got from a Jennifer McGuire video! All I did was paint with watercolor the background stamp and emboss over and rub a baby wipe to lift off some of the color! I'll be showing this one again in a couple weeks!

This one is of my favorites and also inspired by a stamp tv video. It makes a great background! All you need to do is take a stamp. Stamp with Versamark and emboss!

Here's another cool background idea! You can stamp any stamp repeatedly then take a white pigment ink and brush it over the center. This lights part of your image and lets you stamp something in the middle.

This was the technique behind yesterday's card. It's simple a bunch of stamps stamped in random order in a lot of different orange colors! You can do it this with any stamp or any colors!

For this one you cut a shape and stamp inside. Now I hand cut this shape but you could easily use a die cut!

This is similar to the last one. Take a shape and trace it then stamp around the outside.

This was probably the easies of them all . I simply staped with versamark and then put chalk over the top!

I hope I could give you some new ideas to try!

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 164

Happy Monday! Time for a new Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!

So here's a story about today's card. I was getting challenges for the week set up and found a monochrome and inspired by a film challenge. I knew I had some newsie stamps from melonheadz and thought this is perfect because Newsies is my favorite movie! (And yes it's a Disney movie) So I went through my stash and started digging around and thinking about colors. I thought a brown monochromatic would be cool because it sort of matched the Newsies theme since I like to do vintagey dark jewel tone type colors on the newsies cards well I ended up pulling out this stack of newspaper and instead of changing the plan to the black and white of this image I had planned to do for some reason I still made it brown It's not exactly what I pictured it still came out pretty well.

Purple Flowers Happy Birthday with Digistamps4Joy

Hello!

I'm working on getting back to everyday posts and I'm defiantly heading in the right direction! I've got some great stuff planned for the next couple weeks!

Alright onto to today's card!

OK so this one is nice and simple the paper is from The Stash. The digistamp is from Digistamps4joy and called Clivia it's one of my favorites! I colored it with a violet chamelon pen and added in the details with a white gel pen (signo uniball is my favorite) the sentiment is stamped in Memento Grape Jelly and I'm not sure the manufacturer. Then I felt like it wasn't quite finshed so I added to small purple perls from the eyelet outlet!

Craft Space Tuesday Ribbon

Hello, and Welcome to Craft Space Tuesday!

This weeks episode will be a little short.... I was out of some of the supplies for some of the projects I wanted to do for this post. But I'll talk a little today and maybe revisit this topic later. :) But if you click on the little Pinterest button over on the side you'll be able to see the Pinterest board where I was keeping ideas for this post.

So here's a quick breakdown of the results from the little survey I had posted.

100% of the responses said they enjoyed using ribbon!

The next question I asked was What are your favourite ways to use ribbon? Most people said they liked to use it for accents on cards but I got a few really interesting responses!

http://kimpadan.blogspot.com said she likes to use it around the card fold! I thought that sounded like a great idea!

https://sandcastlestamper.blogspot.com/?m=1 said she likes to use it behind a stamped image! I tend to always put the ribbon in front! So smart to put it on the image!

One thing that Shelly mentioned when she answered this question was that she has a sort of homemade bow easy for tying her bows! I totally want to make myself one of these and I haven't yet! But I'll be sure to share when I do!

I was surprised by how many people said they feel that they used their ribbon! It was by far the majority! Most people who said they didn't use their's left some things that should in the way.

For many people, it seemed that they were just out of ideas to use ribbon and hopefully some of the above suggestions help you out. I 'll give more examples when I revisit this with my ribbon projects.

One person did mention that they sometimes struggle to lay down their ribbon straight... Well, straight is hard for me. The best advice I came give for this is simply to try and push the ribbon up against something that's already flush on the card or use a ruler. I also find that as far as easily adhering the ribbon I like to run it through my xyron.

Alright everyone my internet is acting up again... I'm typing almost 2 sentences ahead of what is showing up on my screen... so I'm going to end this here. Hopefully, I'll see you next week!

Craft Space Tuesday: Card Artist

Welcome to Craft Space Tuesday! For anyone who's new Craft Space Tuesday is where I talk about the hot topics in paper crafting!

This week I'm tackling a topic that's been on my mind for a couple months now.

What do you call yourself?

Do you consider yourself to be a cardmaker? Scrapbooker? paper crafter? just a regular crafter? an artist?

Artistic, Artist, Creative. These are words I don't usually use to descie myself but lately I have been. I've used the words Cardmaker, PaperCrafter, and Crafter as words to describe myself. But lately I've really shifted the way I think about what we do here. And I've defintly started use artist to describe what I do. I think I'll always use Cardmaker and Crafter as the primary words I use but I'm thinking of myself more as an artist to.

Short topic today because I don't have any pictures or anything to go with it. But I'm already starting to work a little on next weeks post and could use your help!

If you wouldn't mind stoping by this link and answering a few questions for me. That would be wonderful!
