Craft Space Tuesday: Scrapbook Expo 2016

Good Morning and Welcome to Craft Space Tuesday

This week we're going to review my Scrapbook Expo 2016 experience.

So my Scrapbook Adventure started Thursday night when I went to pick up my BFF and bring her back to my house for the weekend. Thursday night was also spent packing for the crop on Friday. This was one of the most stressful things about the weekend. I'm horrible about packing for crops because I just want to bring everything! But to be fair last year I brought way to much. This year I did a little better. And hopefully next year I'll finally have it down.

Then we came to Friday. Our day started with volunteering at will call which was actually a lot of fun! And even though they call it volunteering you do get paid which is really nice. After that we went and get some lunch. After lunch we got all settled in for the crop. Then we went and did some shopping while my mom went to class and then we went to class. The class my mom took was a thinking about inking class. I haven't been able to get all the details from her but she said she really enjoyed it.  The class we took as a group was called Inked and Embossed cards! It was really cool and I learned A LOT!  We then spent the rest of the night at the crop. Had a ton of fun and got some really great stuff finished. I even won a door prize!

Saturday is where things got rough. We had stayed at the crop the night before until about 11:45. We got home about 12:15 ish and my friend and I accidentally stayed up till 1.... And we had to be up early to get to our 8:00 class Saturday Morning. We went to class and this was a copic class. You all know I love copics. My BFF has seen my copics but was never real into them. I HAVE CONVERTED HER AND NOW SHE LOVES THEM!!! *Insert Evil Laugh HERE* After the we were just so tired. We did a little more shopping but we were just super exhausted.

That's it that was our weekend. Even though we were tired It was great and I'm already getting excited for next year!

Hello! It's Sunday and we are half way through our Birthday Challenge at Crafting When We Can. And I've decided to make an extra card this week. This will also be the card featured in Friday's video.

A New Group!

Hi everyone! How many of you enjoy watching craft videos on YouTube? I know I do! One of my favorite channels is Crafts By Two. I think Ken and George are really funny and I love watching their unboxing videos! They have a few different Facebook groups that they run one is Cricut Explorers. Now you might be thinking, Why are you part of a cricut group you barely use the one you share with your mom? Well your right I don't really use the one I share with my mom. (Although I hope to get an explore eventually because I do miss the cricut image library my Scan n Cut will always be my go to.)  But that's the fun part about this group. Even though Cricut is in the name it's not a Cricut exclusive group any electronic cutting machine is welcome! Or even just a pair of scissors! Every month they post a new challenge with the opportunity to win a $25 Gift Card!!  This month they shared an SVG file. A Takeout box from The Dreaming Tree. Here's the project I made.

It's nothing crazy special because I'm not very good at 3D projects and part of why I decided to join up with Cricut Explorers. So I can push myself to try new things!

4 Years!!!

On Monday I celebrated 200 posts! Today I celebrate 4 years! I can't believe it's been 4 years! It doesn't feel like it at all but I guess that's a good thing! If I don't notice the time passing I must be having fun!

For awhile now I've been thinking of starting a YouTube channel. I've taken a few media classes in the past and have a video camera and a tripod and pretty much everything else you would need to start a YouTube channel and I finally just decided to go for it! So with that today I present to you my first YouTube video and the card that goes with it!

Don't worry if your not into watching videos though you can still see the card here.

This is for the April Freebie Challenge for Outlawz.

Stamps: SheepskiDesigns

AHS 156 Part 2

So Part of my new blog set up is that I want to try and remember to work on more mid challenge reminders. So here's the first with another card using this weeks Atlantic Heart Sketch Challenge Card.

This is a one layer card which is why the ribbon looks a little funky because there wasn't anything to wrap the ends around and hide them. This is one of the cards I made at Scrapbook Expo. So it does feature a few things I borrowed from my friend.

Stamps: Stampin Up Over the Rainbow Set

Inks: Memento Rosebud,  Memento Tangelo, Memento Lilac Roses

Papers: Heavyweight white from the paper studio

Accessories: Ribbon (Most likely Stampin Up)

Craft Space Tuesday: Welcome Back

*Lifts up rock.... Looks around.... Crawls Out...*

Is it just me or is it really really bright out here in blog land? Well now that I'm out from my little rock house from the last two weeks I'm back and ready to get back in the game so this week's Craft Space Tuesday it just a simple update post.

So the last 2 weeks have been really crazy (and today is actually the last day of it) I had a weekend getaway to visit some family for a birthday party. That was a Friday-Sunday deal. Then I had 3 days to finish getting ready for my BFF to come over so we could have a girls weekend and hit up SCRAPBOOK EXPO!!! (Reveiw of that coming next week)  Then today I have a job interview and then I'm taking a day off to relax before hopefully going back to work Thursday or Friday...

OK now the things the matter to you all. As you can probably see I've made some more changes to the blog layout just to clean it up a little bit so make sure you check out the new pages listed at the top of the page. I've also been working on adding tags to my posts so hopefully if your looking for something specific you might be able to find it easier.

Also this week we have a pretty awesome thing happening at the end of this week but because I want to save the celebrating you'll have to wait till Friday. :)

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 156

Welcome to another Monday!

And of course that means Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge!

Here's this weeks sketch.

So for this card I sat down and got started. I pulled out a bunch of paper and let it inspire me! So I don't know about you but I often find that masculine cards are often made of dark cool colors. and when I started this card I was like Masculine Warm Colors?  and I went with it.

I took the bow off from the sketch because... boy card.... but this one is pretty simple. All the paper is from the stash or doodlebug and the ribbon wasn't labeled so I'm not sure where that's from.

Also this card is a special one! Why? THIS IS MY 200TH POST! I can't believe I've reached this milestone! Thank you to everyone whose visited over all these 200 posts!

Happy Birthday with Crafting When We Can

It's time for a new challenge at Crafting When We Can.

This week our sponsor is the lovely Nikki Burnette.

The theme is Birthday! Who couldn't use more birthday cards to have on hand.

Here's the lovely card I created with my sponsor image.

DS4J New Relese.

Alright Crafty Friends were heading into the end of this little hiatus break thing that I've been on. Expect a mostly return for Craft Space Tuesday (Yes.... I know I missed last week because I didn't have my stuff together....) but I will for sure be here with a Scrapbook Expo Recap! (Which I'm probably sleeping and trying to recover from when this goes live) Anyway that's not why were here.

IT'S NEW RELEASE DAY!!!!!

There are some absolutely beautiful new floral designs available at DS4J today. This is the one I chose to work with.

One of my favorite things about this stamp is that you can use it in so many different directions and it still looks beautiful. Make sure you go check out everyone's wonderful creations.

Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge 155

Another Monday means another Atlantic Hearts Sketch Challenge.

This card I like a lot better then the one for last week. I did have to make a few modifications just because my card was a little too small. And I had originally planned to put some bling in the 4 corners of the image but I ended up wanting a softer more dreamy look and I thought the bling I had would be to bold.

Craft Space Tuesday: Getting ready for Scrapbook Expo!

Happy Craft Space Tuesday!!!!

I'm 9 days out from my 2 day Scrapbook Expo extravaganza!!! And I'm getting more and more excited.  So this weeks post is about how I'm getting ready for this 2 day event!

Well how do you get ready for scrapbook expo? Don't you just show up and shop?

Well to a degree yes. But I have a number of Scrapbook Expo events planed. I also have a friend coming from out of town to join me. So there's some extra planning and organizing required but I also know how I work.

I love going to scrapbook expo. I love looking at all the interesting things that aren't always super accessible to me the rest of the year.  The first year I went to scrapbook expo (when I started this blog!!!) I just went in and shopped. It was probably one of the most overwhelming things I had ever done. It was the first time I had ever been to something like that. As I said I love looking at everything and often get distracted by all the new shiny so because of this I like to come in with a shopping list of sorts. I may get some of the things on the list I may get all of them I may get none of them. It's all flexible. But it helps me stay a little more focused.

The other thing I worked on is a crop packing list! Because this is a 12 hour crop (actually it's more then that) !!!! So I started my packing list.

And that's where I'll leave this post for today. Next week will be all about me packing for the crop!

As always, Feel free to comment down below, send me an E-mail, or Like the My Crafty Place Facebook page to leave suggestions for upcoming Craft Space Tuesday Posts! Any Craft related topic is up for grabs!

DigiStamps4Jpy April Challenge Anything Goes with Add Butterflies Twist

Hi Everyone!

I can't believe it's April already! This year is just flying by! A new month means a new challenge at DS4J! This month is Anything Goes as always but the optional twist is wonderfully springy and is Butterflies!

I got to try some new fun stuff for this card!!

First off I normally never resize digi's to be smaller then a focal image for a card. But I've been seeing a lot of my fellow DT members resizing their digi's to be more accent pieces or embellishments instead of the focal image and I felt this butterfly challenge really gave me the chance to try it.

So the Digi featured on this card is Art Deco Beauty I cut out 2 of them and simply glued them on. To make the card base part I cut out this free SVG file with my SNC. Last year I took a class from Sparkle N Sprinkle at Scrapbook Expo. It was all about how to use their Tear-iffic tape. Which is one of my favorite dry adhesives and of course I'm out but Scrapbook expo is only 2 weeks away and I'll be able to stock up. Anyway I got off topic. At this class one of the techniques we learned was to take a border punch and cover it with the tearific tape and then add glitter to it. I took this idea with this deep edge cut card. I used to 2 inch tape to cover the whole thing and glittered both sides of the tape! I just adds a little something!

I hope you'll come join us this month.

Challenges:

Jade's Sparkling Butterflies

4 Crafty Chicks

Cards 4 Galz
