Craft Space Tuesday: Scrapbook Expo Part 1

Hello! And welcome to another episode of Craft Space Tuesday! This week we have my haul from Scrapbook Expo. I mean come on you know that's what you all really wanted to see!

If you're interested you can check out the youtube video below as an overview and get more information below.

I was so excited to earn enough buttons to get my I conquered scrapbook expo medal this year! I was one button away last year!!!! So I was able to get the I helped button for volunteering on Friday morning. The I cropped button because we did the crop on Friday. The I learned button for the 2 classes we took and finally the I returned button because I came back from last year. :)

This is the first class we took which was hosted by Bee Creative. This class was called 4 inked and embossed cards. As part of the class, we received a free embossing folder that you can see up in the corner, as well as a paper tape runner from scrapbook adhesives which isn't pictured.

The blue card is a shaker card made with the fuse tool. It was nice to have the chance to play with it but I don't think I'm a big fan of it or that I will end up getting one of my own anytime soon. The next card is the music note card the techinque showcased on that card was to just rub an ink pad over the embossing which I already do fairly often. Although it did showcase their shimmer cardstock which looks really nice but I really don't need any more glitter cardstock. The next card just expanded on the technique from the music card but just had us mixing colors a little. The big showcase of this card was actually the little birthday cake. You may know this technique but it was new to me. Have you ever seen those sort of glittery 3D type embellishments? This was meant to mirror that idea. We suck a dimensional to the back of the sticker then covered the sticker in baby powder which took the stick off the back of the sticker! The last card was meant to showcase embossing folders as a focal image. The best part of this card was getting to play with the spectrum noir sparkle pens. I actually really like them even though they were all exploded over everything because airplanes have a habit of messing with markers.

Next up I picked up some clear bling and some florish bling from Want 2 Scrap.

These are some brads I picked up at Eyelet Outlet. I really needed to replensh my suppy of just plain old brads.

This was my big purchese from Sparkle N Sprinkle. I got rid of all my embossing powder a few years ago and decided I wanted to give it a go again. Last time I bought packs with like a ton of colors in them and I just didn't use it. So this time I just got the basics and a better quilty embossing powder. They are Black, White Detail, and Clear.

This is a paper pack I picked up for $2 I was going to be good and leave it. But my friend convinced me that it was polka dots and I had to get it. Now I hadn't fliped through it because as I said I hadn't intened to buy it so when I went in to use it It was a little more distresed then I had intended. I actually used it in last Friday's Video!

This is a stamp set I had been eyeing up for awhile to be able to do up my envelopes with it. I was thinking I was going ot have to get it online but I'm so glad I was able to find it at Expo!

This if from Krazy Kreations. I picked up a set of their outline stickers these one happen to be teddy bears and a set of their glitter paper to play with.

Then I got these lovely Lawn Fawn stiched regtangle dies from Nicole Peterson Desgins.. I was also able to pick up the Stamp Shammy from Lawn Fawn from her both but I couldn't wait and already had that opened and used. able to pick up the Stamp Shammy from Lawn Fawn from her both but I couldn't wait and already had that opened and used.

This is my "free" gift for taking part in the crop. To be honset not super impressed.... Everything this year was Christmas themed. I haven't made anything Christmas themed in almost two years. I made so many early on that i just got to a point where I  didn't need anymore because I don't have many that I actually send out. But in my kit I got a pack of pre-scored cards a bunch of journaling cards and some little tiney cardboard words.

I was also lucky enough to win the doot prize at the crop! There was a whole bunch of paper and embeslishments as well as a spectrum nior markers and some glue dots.

I was really happy to find some Copic markers! I haven't bought copic markers in almost 2 years! That's crazy! I'm so happy I was able to add 10 new markers to my collection!

Then there were more markers! This is actully from the second class we took. We got a free blending set! I couldn't find my thrid marker when I took this picture but there are indeed 3!

This is everything else from the class. You can see what we colred up in the right hand corner, Then there is also the stuff to make the example card. The extra outline stickers and family the door prize card kit. Everyone got one because there were 5 people in class and she had 5 prizes to give away and I got this little teady bear one.

That's it for today but don't wory there's more come back next week!

Craft Space Tuesday: Scrapbook Expo 2016

Good Morning and Welcome to Craft Space Tuesday

This week we're going to review my Scrapbook Expo 2016 experience.

So my Scrapbook Adventure started Thursday night when I went to pick up my BFF and bring her back to my house for the weekend. Thursday night was also spent packing for the crop on Friday. This was one of the most stressful things about the weekend. I'm horrible about packing for crops because I just want to bring everything! But to be fair last year I brought way to much. This year I did a little better. And hopefully next year I'll finally have it down.

Then we came to Friday. Our day started with volunteering at will call which was actually a lot of fun! And even though they call it volunteering you do get paid which is really nice. After that we went and get some lunch. After lunch we got all settled in for the crop. Then we went and did some shopping while my mom went to class and then we went to class. The class my mom took was a thinking about inking class. I haven't been able to get all the details from her but she said she really enjoyed it.  The class we took as a group was called Inked and Embossed cards! It was really cool and I learned A LOT!  We then spent the rest of the night at the crop. Had a ton of fun and got some really great stuff finished. I even won a door prize!

Saturday is where things got rough. We had stayed at the crop the night before until about 11:45. We got home about 12:15 ish and my friend and I accidentally stayed up till 1.... And we had to be up early to get to our 8:00 class Saturday Morning. We went to class and this was a copic class. You all know I love copics. My BFF has seen my copics but was never real into them. I HAVE CONVERTED HER AND NOW SHE LOVES THEM!!! *Insert Evil Laugh HERE* After the we were just so tired. We did a little more shopping but we were just super exhausted.

That's it that was our weekend. Even though we were tired It was great and I'm already getting excited for next year!

Craft Space Tuesday: Welcome Back

*Lifts up rock.... Looks around.... Crawls Out...*

Is it just me or is it really really bright out here in blog land? Well now that I'm out from my little rock house from the last two weeks I'm back and ready to get back in the game so this week's Craft Space Tuesday it just a simple update post.

So the last 2 weeks have been really crazy (and today is actually the last day of it) I had a weekend getaway to visit some family for a birthday party. That was a Friday-Sunday deal. Then I had 3 days to finish getting ready for my BFF to come over so we could have a girls weekend and hit up SCRAPBOOK EXPO!!! (Reveiw of that coming next week)  Then today I have a job interview and then I'm taking a day off to relax before hopefully going back to work Thursday or Friday...

OK now the things the matter to you all. As you can probably see I've made some more changes to the blog layout just to clean it up a little bit so make sure you check out the new pages listed at the top of the page. I've also been working on adding tags to my posts so hopefully if your looking for something specific you might be able to find it easier.

Also this week we have a pretty awesome thing happening at the end of this week but because I want to save the celebrating you'll have to wait till Friday. :)

Craft Space Tuesday: Getting ready for Scrapbook Expo!

Happy Craft Space Tuesday!!!!

I'm 9 days out from my 2 day Scrapbook Expo extravaganza!!! And I'm getting more and more excited.  So this weeks post is about how I'm getting ready for this 2 day event!

Well how do you get ready for scrapbook expo? Don't you just show up and shop?

Well to a degree yes. But I have a number of Scrapbook Expo events planed. I also have a friend coming from out of town to join me. So there's some extra planning and organizing required but I also know how I work.

I love going to scrapbook expo. I love looking at all the interesting things that aren't always super accessible to me the rest of the year.  The first year I went to scrapbook expo (when I started this blog!!!) I just went in and shopped. It was probably one of the most overwhelming things I had ever done. It was the first time I had ever been to something like that. As I said I love looking at everything and often get distracted by all the new shiny so because of this I like to come in with a shopping list of sorts. I may get some of the things on the list I may get all of them I may get none of them. It's all flexible. But it helps me stay a little more focused.

The other thing I worked on is a crop packing list! Because this is a 12 hour crop (actually it's more then that) !!!! So I started my packing list.

And that's where I'll leave this post for today. Next week will be all about me packing for the crop!

Craft Space Tuesday: Get Orgnized Wrap Up and Blog Updates

Happy Tuesday Everyone!

On this weeks Craft Space Tuesday we start off with a wrap up of the Get Organized Challenge.

Now How did I do?

Not to bad. I did loose major motivation towards the end but I'm still happy with everything I got done and where I'm at. I still have a long way to go but there will be another challenge in the fall and we'll see if I can make some more improvements then.

I just want to showcase one more part of the get organized challenge today. And it was sort of a "why didn't I think of this before" moment.

So most of the dies I have are nestabilities which means they have an open center.

I've been cutting out all the dies to glue them into my catalog. Well I got to the last set and had absolutely no drive to cut them all out on my cuttlebug... And then I realized I could just trace the inside window!!!! Is it perfect? No but is it good enough and close enough for me? ABSOLUTELY! I was so mad that it took me so long to figure this one out! I could have easily finished my dies in one day had I thought of this earlier!

Remember I'm always looking for Craft Space Tuesday post ideas. If you have a crafting topic you'd like to see me talk about. Leave a comment down below, Send me an E-mail at mycraftyplacesam@gmail.com

OK so that's the exciting part of today and now to the more boring part.

My next few weeks are crazy which as you already know is why you aren't seeing daily blog posts right now. As part of this I'm working on some blog layout updates and other blog type updates. In what I've nicknamed this week electronic organization week. Just wanted to give everyone a heads up if the blog starts to look a little different.

Craft Space Tuesday: Technique Binder!

This is a very long term project!!! It was inspired by a friend of mine and I'm hoping to get some pictures of hers when she comes to visit in a few weeks. Over the years she has taken a lot of Stampin Up classes. She's not a demo but she almost exclusively uses stampin up products but I've been spending a lot of time trying to introduce her to other companies and products! Don't get me wrong I use some Stampin UP stuff to but there's just too much stuff out there for me to limit myself like that!

Anyway that's not what were here to talk about. She's been creating small ATCish type cards with the techniques she learns in this class writes the directions on the back and keeps them in a binder. So I've done something similar.

So this is just one picture. As I said it's a long term project and I hope you'll have some fun watching me work on it and there will be more pictures as we go.

I'm still looking for Craft Space Tuesday ideas! You can comment down below, send me an E-mail at mycraftyplacesam@gmail.com, or like the My Craft Place page on Facebook and leave me a note there!

Craft Space Tuesday

Good Morning!

I really have been enjoying these "Get Organized" Tuesday posts. So I'm slightly revising them to Craft Space Tuesday! The Get Organized challenge is wrapping up in the next few weeks but I like talking about craft things that aren't always showing off a project so I'm going to try and keep those to Craft Space Tuesdays!

Things that might be featured included; My favorite crafty products, What my current work space looks like, progress on organizing things, hauls from crafty shopping, Q and A type things from the comments and that get asked through E-mail. I'm always open to other ideas too.

This week's post is inspired by a reader comment! Kim from Katy Did Cards left me a comment last week asking if I would share my Digi Stamp organization! Well of course1

This was my first Digi Stamp Organization. I'd download them and put them in a folder with all the other stamps from that company. Which worked well for blogging but not always for finding a stamp I needed unless I knew where it was from.

Then we I joined my Design Teams I made another folder for them so I knew which Digis I had for my DT duties.

And this is the new way! I have the stamps sorted into categories so I can look at all my animal stamps together etc. I kept the other 2 files to be able to cross reference for the blog and so far it's been working well for me!
